My Second Grade Memories

Hello I am Cecilia M Moreno the second . I am 8 years old. My teacher  is Mr. Cheung. I love reading and writing. I also like drawing. Because of the pandemic I used to go online. But, then schools allowed you to go in person. On the first day I came in person I was  nervous and tired.

What was easy for me in second grade was origami because I like folding paper and in  Second Grade, I made a boat, a ladybug, a piano, and a paper airplane. I love origami because it is something from Japan. Origami is hard when you first start it. When I started I got mad. Then I just gave up. Then, I took a deep breath and tried again. I failed but I said ” I will keep trying until I get it”. I continued and failed but I learned from my mistakes. I tried for weeks. One day, finally I made a paper note!

There is a game in Second Grade called K a h o o t, in K a h o o t there are questions and you got  to  find the right answer. If you get it wrong, you do not win points. At the end of the game, the winners get rated of how many points they have. You can choose many different types of quizzes in K a h o o t from foods, to culture, to dog types, to video games, K a h o o t has one thing in common within all of those quizzes: YOU LEARN SOMTHING NEW! Also there are modes that you can choose from. There is classic mode: AGAINST EACH OTHER. or Team mode: TEAM UP WITH FAMILY AND FRIENDS.

I am not good or great at Multiplication because I do not really understand that you add something that many times. Example, ‘six times six’ is adding the number six, six times. It is difficult for me. There is some multiplication that is easy. Then there is multiplication that is hard.

the amazing adventures of the Psychic Girl: Eyes of the Beholder

Once there was a girl named Caroline. She went to a school called rebel high. she was in the 5th grade and her parents were scientists in area 51.

she went their to borrow some hydrogen peroxide for Elephant toothpaste.

Instead, she went in a room that said: HIGHLY DANGEROUS ORB but I went in anyway.

she touched the orb and then she fainted and her head went bang on the floor.

when she woke up she was in a hospital.

her parents were worried so they called the hospital to help her.

her mom said,” Dear, are you ok?” she said”  what….?” her dad said” what happened? did you go into the HDO room?”

She said” yes…” then she read her dad’s mind without knowing. He was thinking about a subway sandwich.

She said” are you thinking of subway sandwiches?” dad chuckled “yes.” then we went out for sandwiches.

Then her brain started ringing and stinging.

She screamed and then her dad put sleeping gas near her and she fell asleep.

She woke up in a box room. they ran some tests and found out I was becoming evil.

The people gave her pills that could help her.  she did not take then because it was a high chance of death.

Then, she had to go to a private  school so the kids would not laugh at her.

One day there was a stranger. He was a scary deviled man. He gave her a drink that was in a jug and the color was brown and green. he said “drink” so she drank it and it tasted like frogs and slime. Later that night I had to puke and I was so grossed out she needed her dog Panda Bun to sleep. Panda Bun was a Corgi. She is a she.

She woke up and ate some pancakes. Then, her brain started ringing again. she screamed and her parents said “CAROLINE?” then she ate the pills that the people gave her. Then she woke up and then her problems went away.

The end!

The amazing adventures of Doug: Doug in Disguise

Doug is walking in the forest getting sticks for his family. So he got 2 sticks and then wanted to find more.

he remembered not to go past Cheery Lane but he did not know where Cheery Lane was.

He went to a lake and filled his pot with water. When he was home he was the first to drink but then he went outside to clean his plates and then he jumped 4 times and then he flew! he was so happy and he flew back down and went to bed.

Then the next day he flew around the forest collecting food and his family was very impressed.

When he landed his family said “SUPER DOUG!!” he smiled and said “good night!” and he slept and dreamed of dog treats with chicken and peanut butter bones.

In the morning a big machine  came that cut all of his maple trees down.

He yelled “WOAH!”  then, he grabs his invisibility cloak and puts it on and he flies and punches the machine but it drills all of the forest.

Then, he tracks down their location to find them and get revenge.

He sobbed” my maples are gone THEY MUST PAY!” when he got there he attacked from ALL sides and robots attacked him.

Then he grabbed his invisible bow and he shot their control panels and  then… BOOM! the boss of the company attacked Doug and Doug and the owner both

fought and then BOOM BA BANG! the robot broke into pieces.

Doug was happy as can be. Then he said” That’s what you get for ruining my maples.”

Then Doug got married and had two pups, Caroline, and Doug Jr and he lived happily ever after with his wife, Bella too. Part two coming soon….

Bird Feeder S.T.E.M. Project

Preparations:

The materials I collected were a hot glue gun, cardboard, scissors, a plastic bottle, and a knife. I got the cardboard from a box of mini cupcakes. The cupcakes were a gift from my cousin in Miami. The plastic bottle came from an empty water bottle.

I thought about two problems. The first was how to keep the bird feed from spilling. My idea was to make walls so that the seeds won’t fall. My second problem was keeping squirrels from eating the seeds. I thought I could distract them with a walnut trap by putting a walnut in the bottom of the cup I cut to simply trap them inside.

I knew that some birds would come but thought they would not come right away so I had to wait.

Building:

The first thing I did was to find all of the materials. I put them all in the middle of the room so that I would not lose them. I did not have to buy anything for this project because I had everything at home. My abuelo helped me with the project. He helped me cut, glue and he taught me how to use a drill.

Step 1: I cut the box to make the base.

Step 2: I cut the extra cardboard to make the sides.

Step 3: I glued the sides to the base to make walls.

Step 4: I cut the plastic bottle.

Step 5: I glued the top of the bottle to base.

Step 6: I drew a squirrel face on the bottom of the bottle to trap them.

Step 7: I made a hole in the cap of the bottle.

Step 8: I made a second hole at the bottle for the seeds to come out.

Step 8: I put string through the hole.

Step 9: I filled the bottle with bird seeds.

Step 10: I hung it from the outdoor swing in our backyard.

Some steps of the project were hard for me. For example, I needed help cutting the sides and using the glue gun. Other parts were easy to do. Gluing the bottle to base was easy. Using the drill was easy after my grandpa showed me how to use it.

I changed my mind because my original idea was to make it look like a castle but then I changed it to look like a flying saucer. When I made the second hole I did not know what size to make it so I started by making it small. Then I found out it was way too small when I looked at it.

Something unexpected happened. When I was building it I burnt my hand with hot glue and it hurt.

Testing:

My adult did help me choose where to hang the feeder. We picked the canopy because it was easier to hang. My abuelo helped me tie it to the top of the canopy.

We watched for a few minutes from the kitchen to see if birds came. The first birds came to feed. They were small black birds Then something unexpected happened. Ravens came and sat on the feeder. The ravens are heavy and fat. The base tilted and broke off from the bottle. All the seeds fell to the ground. The ravens ate it. Then squirrels came and they ate the rest of it.

I would say that my bird feeder worked with the small birds but not big and fat ones. If I were to make this again, I would keep the tube the same and still use the hot glue. I would use different materials for the base. I would use more plastic for the base so it wouldn’t get wet.

Facts:

The bird feeder is  10  inches tall.

The bird feeder is attached to  a beam with a string.

The food inside the bird feeder contains seeds.

mystery house

My name is Julia, I deliver food to people’s homes.  One day, I had to deliver fried kelp balls with lemon to a house on Willow Street.  I parked my car and walked up the little stone path and I saw a beautiful house that has pearly white window seals and shades of blue and purple everywhere.  I rang the  golden doorbell, but nobody came to open the door.  So I gave it a little push and it is not locked.  I yelled “Hello?” and a mermaid  came down the pearl   stairs that turned into a slide. The mermaid named Pearl said, “Come with me” and she transformed into a human and told me to come in and stand in the kitchen.  While I was waiting, I looked around and  I saw a crown made out of pearls and shells. When Pearl came back I delivered her the fried kelp balls covered in lemon. When I left I was sad to leave so I gave her my phone number so we could talk sometime.

Magna Boots

Manga Boots

I came up with this idea when I was running and my feet started to hurt. If only I could levitate so I would not have a feet ache.

My invention is a boot with magnets on it. My invention also has batteries. You hit the button on the left side and you will levitate or Levi Mode. If you hit the right button it will become grippy or Grippy Mode. Grippy Mode can stick to any type of metal surface. You could walk on walls or the ceiling. You could even walk up a building! Right is Grippy Mode and left is Levi Mode.

The world will be better because now you can walk on walls (only steel for now). People can levitate on anything. It’s important to people with sore legs or feet. So, if their feet ache, they can easily float the rest of the way.

Dotty Sickness For Only 2,115 Cents!!

My favorite coin art piece I created is Dotty Sickness. Dotty Sickness is a hybrid of a horse and a human. It is called Dotty Sickness because it is made of dots and the dots are a sickness. It is wearing an orange onesie. I loved making the multicolored dots and the outlines. Can you see the part that is horse and the part that is human? Yes, it is weird but I love it because I used my imagination and it makes my family use their imagination when they look at it. I hope you like my picture.

And The Winner Is… Her Name Starts With A J… It’s….

I pick Juliana for working hard in the class and using her brain to get past hard math. I would give her the Kindness and Smartest Award because she has worked hard. I am proud of her effort. She has helped people a lot and has been respectful to her teacher and her friends. I believe that she is smart because she reads books and pays attention to Mr. Cheung.

I have known Juliana ever since I was 6 years old. I observed her in class as she raised her hand and made her answers so clear.

Juliana is very kind because she helps her classmates with math. She is as sweet as honey and helps so many people in her group. She is respectful to other people around her and she inspired me for this homework.

How to Bake a Cake!

Add some cake mix of any kind, I like to use chocolate mix. Then, add eggs, flour, milk and butter. The ingredients have to be fresh. Nobody wants rotten cake. The butter makes the cake soft. The milk makes the batter fluffy, like a liquid cloud. You need all of this to make the batter!

To get the pans all ready, melt some butter to pour on the pan carefully. The butter helps the cake not stick to the pan. Without butter it would stick to the pan and be what we call, “a Crumble Cake.”

In order to mix, use your hands (be sure they’re clean) or use a big or small wooden spoon to carefully stir it in the bowl. When you are done, pour the batter on the pan that you used earlier. Put the pan into the  oven. The pan should be in the oven for about 30 minutes. Bake at 350 Degrees Fahrenheit.

Get icing of any color, then use the piping bag to squeeze the bottom for the icing to come out of the bag. The piping bag can make unique shapes and designs. Then, you can put any toppings on the cake, like sprinkles and such. Ta da!!!
